“Yes as said above a different time he would be different. I assert if he never left Scotland he would still be in the bookies, drinking wine and telling tall stories perhaps with his head in a book by the banks of the River Clyde as kids safely passed him. ”

I have had some comments on a piece I wrote about Ian Brady recently and this is by way of a reply. Well not quite a reply as I agree with most of what the writer says. This is more of a case of thinking out loud ……..
One of the problems with public (or private) debate is that for the most part it’s a form of entertainment. There’s nothing wrong with that but it’s something that must be kept in mind. It’s like the idea most of us have about education…..but that’s another issue for another time.
Just a few words in passing about Myra Hindley. They said that if she hadn’t met Brady she would not have become a killer. But it’s not as simple as that.  What if she had become a nurse or care worker in an old peoples home? I can well imagine her helping ease some old dear out of her pain while slipping a gold watch or wedding ring into her bag. We are told she was a better scholar than Brady , a practical woman who could do well if she applied herself. Yes , but not a great mind. The fact that she fooled at lot of people just tell’s us something about them but not about her. She certainly never seems to have been able to …..how can I put it…. see the ’big picture’ at least in so far as her own self interest was concerned. A clever girl but nothing special.
But Brady is a different kettle of fish. As a young men he attempted to distance himself from , as he saw it , the common herd. He wanted to stand out and be noticed as we all do. He achieved his ambition. I should say here that I don’t think he killed to become famous but he did become famous. He made it. When Ian Brady dies his death will be announced to the four corners of the world. So let’s not prevaricate on this issue , his is a great success story. It’s important to keep that in mind.
”Be careful of what you wish for….” We are all familiar with this as is Brady himself and he like us has found himself looking back with the benefit of hindsight and pondering on the mistakes he’s made. He has written of this and how perhaps he got it all wrong. But this is what we all do and it has no importance. If it proves anything it’s that everything has it’s price and life , as it passes , brings regrets.
It might seem that this is a misplaced hymn of praise - no more than a fool praising a fool- perhaps , but Brady at least is no ordinary fool. And as for the minutiae of debate , the facts , they are important but we arrive at our conclusions either way. More important is that we should have clear vision , see what’s before our eyes and recognise who’s pulling the strings. And it’s not Brady , in spite of all the effords of newspaper men and politicians who are at one in trying to convince us that Brady is a master manipulator we must wonder why they try so hard. Could it be that while focusing our attention thus they hope we will not notice who’s hands are on the controls?
Brady made it to the top. Just like James Cagney. He didn’t kill as many people as Chief of the General Staff Sir Richard Dannatt but he managed to make it in spite of this. It is of course inevitable that we should judge him but I believe in civil society and order which is to say I believe as most do that queuing should be encouraged. In both the Home Office and Foreign Office and a hundred and other places there are killers worse than Brady so let’s at least be consistant. And in the British way of doing things we must above all be fair. So let’s have a queue.
Michael Collinsis a hero. Well every school kid in Ireland is told he’s a hero. Honored by the Irish nation and people. There’s something like a reverence when his name is mentioned. He’d have shot my mother through the head without a thought. If someone had said , back in those days , if someone had said , “That woman’s a British agent , an informer” , whatever the words he’d have shot her dead in the street like a dog. And after the killing he would have mounted the rostrum side by side with the local ‘father’ and talked about Ireland’s destiny , meaning of course his own. He’d have killed her , woman or child, without a thought. A thug and psychopath. A cold blooded killer.  Give me a letter of the alphabet , a day of the week , a month , a year and I’ll give you the name of a killer. But that’s too much to ask. But at least let’s agree and form a queue.
Have you ever noticed how the working class put down their own? They’ll say things like , as in the case of Brady , “he was just a Glasgow thug”. It’s a peculiarly working class thing. In my sixty years I have never heard the ruling class put their own down in such a manner. Never. As my mother used to say , “He didn’t pick that up from the street”. Nor do such attitudes float down from some distant planet. These pieces of ‘received wisdom’ are taught to us as is everything else. Think about it for a while.  It’s a simple truth , we learn these attitudes just as surely as we learn our ABC’s. Or rather we are taught them. “I knew him when he hadn’t a shirt to his back”. How many thousands of  times have we heard this? And who was it who put young working class boy’s up against the wall in the time of the Great War and shot them dead but other working class boys? Oh yes , make no mistake they trained us well. It’s in the DNA. It’s a part of our very being. But like I said , “We didn’t pick it up from the streets”.
“Work will make you free” and so will education. But everything has a price. You get nothing for nothing. Everything has a price tag even if you can’t see it. But that’s something for another day.
Ian Brady: A working class hero ? Why not.  But what about the victims? Cruel though it may sound they have nothing to do with it. They are dead and we can’t bring them back. But Brady’s not dead. But they have buried him none the less. A political prisoner? Without a doubt. The crimes an existential exercise? Yes , no question about that. The fact that he did not understand , that he had at best a half baked notion of what that meant simply tells us that he was as yet naive , a young man with little experience in life. He uses big words when they are not appropriate which is common enough with the self educated. He might , as most do , have grown out of that. Maybe being in prison and secure mental hospitals for a lifetime has something to do with it. I really don’t know.
He wrote a book , “The Gates of Janus” ( I’ll review it at a later date). It’s a bad book. A good editor would have handed it back and told him to start from scratch. But he didn’t have a good editor and even if he had had one I don’t  think writing is his gift. “He could have gone places that lad” , but he did , he did.  Young and naive , a working class kid , he killed his own. “Each man kills…” blah , blah , blah. “Words , Words , Words”. I read the same books he did and at about the same age as him. And like him I was naive. So innocent that I never realised that some men grow rich and powerful making sausages while other’s do the same producing books. And like him I believed most of it , the myth I mean , that books have to do with finding wisdom. I was so busy bettering myself that it never occurred to me that there was a price on everything and that it had nothing to do with the booksellers margin. The State and Revolution. No one pointed me in the direction of that one …..it took years for me to discover it , wasted years.
My father smoked a pipe. He would sit in his chair reading The Irish Press. He worked (free) for the cause(Ireland). They offered him a job one day after many years of service to this cause and he left the country , such was his disgust. They had insulted him without even knowing it. But still ,years later and exiled in London he would walk for miles to find a shop where he could buy  irish butter , Kerrygold , Irish Creamery Butter. Just so that the money would go back to Ireland. He had little time for the British but was buried in a British grave. He used to joke that there would be thousands at his funeral. He’d smile , take the pipe out of his mouth and look at my mother and say , “The’re be thousands at my funeral.” And she , old before her years , ( working class but respectable) would look at him while she labored over a heavy stove , a weary look on her face….the kind of look peculiar to the ‘respectable’ working class…..(the’re wasn’t a sole at my father funeral).
“Here comes master home from school
                           who had a father for a fool…”
In the mean time , back in the real world , politicians were dragging the people into the Common Market. No one heard yet of ‘the free movement of labour’….but it was on it’s way. The new global capitalism was on the march….of course it had nothing to do with free anything. The rich got a lot lot richer and the middle class got onto the housing ladder. And the poor? They just got left behind. And just a little while back they released all the ‘political’ prisoners (drug pushers and killers) but the kids , the ordinary working class kids , left behind as always.
But what , you might say , has this to do with Ian Brady? Well , it has to do with knowing who the enemy is. I’m not a reasonable man and never have been. The reasonable man in my experience is the man with a full belly. To be reasonable is not a virtue. It’s a word for a set of values that we in turn were taught to value but it has no meaning for those who gave it to us in the first place. “Language is power”. Indeed , and you get nothing for nothing. They educated us well , well enough to labour in a literate world , but they didn’t do it to make us wise. They didn’t teach us etymology , not in my school but in the private schools I dare say they did. I’ll repeat myself here and say again , “Words are power”. But nobody told us that , we had to find out for ourselves.
And Brady a working class hero? In a world were every syllable has been made to serve the market , in a world like that I’m more than happy to shout it from the roofs. He’s one of our own and if we have to judge him then let him take his place in the queue.  And if we are fair , if each is made to take his turn , then Brady’s turn will come. If we live long enough that is. It’s a long queue , a very  long one. A political prisoner , yes and let’s not get sidetracked by morality , just read the Home Office reports and the those of the appeal court judges. Moral relativism , they wrote the book on it!! And how many billions , yes billions have died at the hands of this class. And these are the men who judge Ian Brady!!
But what about Keith Bennett? That’s a question the working class (and the ‘new’ middle class) ask  and these judges are happy that we should occupy ourselves in this way. And my answer is simple. There is (or should be) a queue so let’s start with the billions first. How many Keith Bennett’s were there in those billions? Fair is fair , that’s another thing they taught us in school. So let’s be fair and take it one at a time.
Over the long years Brady has had many visitors. They come to him with an agenda , all of them , some to judge him , some to understand him and some to learn secrets. He plays games with them and why not. He know’s their question’s before they open their mouths. They queue up to see him.  All of them , all of them looking for something. And it’s they who come to see him. There is a whole story to be told in that fact alone.
As I said at the beginning of this now too long post , debate is for the most part entertainment. And as Pessoa says , philosophy is the result of indigestion.

                             Eat chocolates, little girl:
                                Eat chocolates!
Look, there is no more metaphysics in the world than chocolates.
Look, all religions teach no more than the sweetshop does.
                           Eat, grubby little girl, eat!
If only I could eat chocolates with he same truth as you eat!
But I think and, as I pull off the silver paper that is tin foil,
I throw it all on the ground, as I have thrown life.

  1. Ian Brady : Moors Murders: Letter's , Quotes and Comments. « Silly Old Twit Says:

[...] June 5th, 2007                  Have you written to Moors Murder Ian Brady? Have you ever thought of writing him a letter? The question is rhetorical. But many people do just that. Over the years I often was tempted to write to him myself but I figured that he has enough people pestering him as it is. Of course those who do write to him do so for what is to them a good reason but it must get tedious for him none the less. Of those that I know of and those who over the years have visited him in prison and hospital it would seem they all are looking for something.        Be it reporters or playwrights they are all after something. And not only that but they all make a point so saying what an evil man he is which begs the question of why they want to have his company or his correspondence in the first place. There are some who write to serial killers as a hobby or maybe to sell the letters on eBay or something like that. I am not knocking those who do write to him but I find it all a bit odd. I don’t mean those who write to him privately , there are some I’m sure who do so and keep it private as one would normally do with any such correspondence , I mean those who then go on to publish or otherwise advertise or even sell the letters.            Below are a few quote’s from him . I wrote a couple of posts about Brady and as a result received some comments and decided to reply by way of a post or entry in my blog but as this turned out to a bit too long for a blog post I have uploaded it to my Pages. If you don’t want to navigate to the page just click HERE. [...]

Thank you John. I have in fact been keeping an eye on your site to see this statement and look foward to it…..I hope by the way that your not suggesting that I’m mad.

  5. John Doe Says:

    Hi
Not at all, but some of the company you keep bears watching and is considerd by many serious researchers as bieng as mad as a bag of snakes.

Ps I have no web site and the you referance was a typoe that should have read WHO. Sorry

Blowing a bit of smoke here many of your comments about the case are quite refreshing.

Saterday the 16th of June is the 43rd aniversery of Keith Bennetts death. In the forty days Maddy has been missing over 1500 children have gone missing in the UK

    Regards
    John

  6. Paula Badger Says:

So he is going to reply finally, good as he is not getting his day out. Oh, and serious researchers ‘why have you not published the deliberate mistakes’.

Topping autobiography built on the confessions only of Myra Hindley showed that the record he was supposed to have given her did not exist, or is the Oldham Chronicle a time traveller. The Hill which he is said to have given her to celebrate the death of Pauline Reade which Paul Reade discounts as the actual events was not on the cinema till two years laters,

So will serious autobiographers who do research please tell me why this lie was made to fit a very good selling book as you check as a police officer any fact or lie before publication. It sold better than Fred Harrison who Ian Brady entrusted.

Due to fighting Ian Brady’s corner I am not in the desired circle, as it seems Myra felt a lot of people under the table in more ways than one. No researcher has found out why she ‘turned her beam on’ the nun and others, and why she had alternative lovers as in Ruth Ellis character she parasited. Gorton deserves better than a woman who claimed to be a girl. Even the BBC got it wrong calling her a 15 year old girl in documentaries. She was only fifteen in 1953 when she was strangling girls in Judo holds in class because she could.

  7. Paula Badger Says:

Correction. 1942 to 1962 is 20. She was 15 in 1955 and one of her many ‘lovers’ died in Greenfield I am told by Paula whe she tried to abduct as Ian knows in the town said so. He said a lot as did the man in uniform she was alternative lovers with. Only now thanks to Duncan Staff and Fred Harrison are Myra Hindley’s sluttish ways being revealed that locals knew all to well.

  8. Paula Badger Says:

To be sectioned you do not need to be mad but a danger to yourself, a self-harmer or to the general public. Madness is a term for the illiterate and the layman. As is those that cannot spell sectioned. It is an odd phrase is it not.

Ian Brady had to be sectioned or the Kray clan he upset with his smirks in prison would have killed him in a most ‘orrible’ way. They could not do as he did and infer that the victims were under a road as buried under, as they had buried people in concrete and he was next. John was buried as Ian bragged under the road as to the geology of it and his mental stimuli and they were buried in ‘banks’ or the foyers of in his mind. Myra let the boys play as we all know, but the men she had better delights that the childlike Ian never got to sample. I have heard of those delights from men now dead, and yet there are more that come and tell a tale. Ian was and is the ‘biggest fool that ever lived’ - Loch Ness line.

He was not a success as all that has came out of this is that a bastard became a serial killer, and that his mother was a woman who had sex before marriage, and that is his gift to her that the world will always remember as Ian Stewart and Peggie Stewart as the one who delivered him. So famous mother yes, and her dilemma. Very touching Ian, what a tribute to her you made.

  9. sillyoldtwit Says:

Thank you once more for all your comments which I do enjoy reading. Brady was of course a failure in so far as he ended up in prison but in the context of our celebrity culture driven society he was a huge sucess. And let’s face it , juvenile and immature as it may be , we would all like to be famous. And I do honestly belive that he is a man of great inner strenght. ….

  10. Paula Badger Says:

Oh, so as a infamous person like salmonella and ebola he is a success? Like Bundy who was educated and fought his corner in laymans language with no slut for a mattress he was and is a success? Ian Stewart is not a celebrity, he is point in history of a deranged man who had no territory, that had no homeland and that will be his legacy. There is infamy and fame and neither are in the pudding of immortality.

Ian Stewart has not yet stood the test and contacted the media to give this massive press release, nor will he as he still thinks he is important enough to be reasoned with. Shame, as the book makes clear he was the dimwit follower in short pants, I warned him, but he did not listen.

The missing boy is not out of our grasp as he knows, and sure as eggs is eggs I do not think he knows half Myra did with her men friends of her mentality. She soothed his ego right enough and that is what you do to damaged people. You get into their weaknesses for your own ends. Ian will die and be forgotten and his ashes be spread on the Irish Sea. There is a reason for that.

What a fool he is to think he is of the league of criminologist or clinical psychologist or in the league of Ian Huntley or his ilk. They had the means he did not and as such did not brag to juveniles of fantasy.
Keith Bennett will be found without his help, we do not need it, thank you. Media will pay the families when he is found. So let him reveal the others if he dare.

  11. Paula Badger Says:

Just in case, the following children were missing as recorded in the Manchester Evening News of the 9th October, 1965.

    SUSAN OMERROD, July 1965
    JOHN OLLEREN, Sept. 1965
    MICHAEL HAYES, Sept. 1965
    GERTRUDE BROOKES,
    BARBARA WHITE. 1965

JENNIFFER TIGHE, 30th, December 1964, runaway hitchhiker from Oldham cinema. Age 14.

These are the archived details from the resources in microfilche.

  12. Paula Badger Says:

Silly old twit might be my name. The ground that is supposed to have been dug for John Kilbride has not been touched. What Ian or a photographer did was to stand back to the bank as he would and have Myra and Puppet rotate sideways to the left hand side of the road, hence bright green triangle dimensions. It is therefore as he asserts that he did not take photos of the grave but stand on them. That is a different logistically empirically matter that I understand. So do I understand 24 hours to Tulsa and cowboy practices as to the ledge someone describes. No press release as Madeleine McCann is still missing and we might bring home a live child to its mother instead of what Brady has to offer. So he has not got media space. He is not worth the print due to more serious matters. We do not want him, do not need him.

  13. John Doe Says:

A E mail petition to the prime minister starts in 5 days time

    E petition at

for new search ordered by John Ried Honor it please vote now

  15. Paula Badger Says:

I have heard from the land owner the piece of rope he retrieved nor the site just five yards from John has been investigated. The site of Johns’ grave is not where the farmer thinks and I pondered on that till I affirmed the grasses that are nearer to the bank, it is here that John was buried and in the stream bed that runs past the two mounds that two psychics or newspapers mentioned in the press. I think that photos of the outcrop with the team that abandoned it are the direct line showing the spot as a joke between Ian Brady’s legs on the trophy photo. It is directly shown that both photos show this view to John Kilbride’s grave and the photo sent the Home Office and GMP and Winnie’s solicitor.
Being in Praia da Luz and working I have stopped for a while and had many cases from my US tracker and missing children unit contact me with more cases. So time is not something I can offer Winnie as before. But it will resume. All those who wish to end Ian’s games please do so. Keith Bennett might not be the only one buried in this same location, a fear all my team digging had that day and a sobering thought.

  16. AHolmes Says:

The petition relating to a renewed search for the body of Keith Bennett seems to be no longer active on the govenment website… I noticed this when I checked back to see how many people had signed it. A search found no results.

  17. Roberta Says:

I would love to write to Ian Brady. I just read his book. His views are unconventional in many ways and yet there is a lot of truth as well. I liked his analyses on various other serial killers and wish he would write another book to deal with such people as Dahmer, Bernardo and Homolka (who parallel Myra and Ian to a great degree) BTK killer and others. I was captivated by the crime when it first happened. I read anything I could find on it.

  18. AHolmes Says:

:Today (2nd January) is Ian Brady’s seventieth birthday. 2008 will mark, for him, almost forty four years incarceration.

While I do not excuse his crimes, there are those out there who have committed equally horrible acts of violence and now walk free.

I’m am sure that no birthday spent kept under lock and key is a happy one, but I sincerely wish Mr Brady many happy returns none-the-less.

  19. Pauline Anne Badger Says:

Mental health is the most shunned and the most vilified as most who use this term of ‘mad’ are indeed paranoid. The fact is Ian Brady and not Stewart has no place else to go should he be released. He has no coping skills and no actual skills in living independantly of the community. He is the reject of the failed Borstal regime as a total institution for the deprived and depraved, except this one found a female feral cat - Myra Hindley. Ian will live if allowed untill he is 93. That legacy awaits him.

In answer to the phoney who uses many names he is under an illusion as ‘phoney’ to know Ian has told his solicitor that there is an exact location. That is why no press release. Either Ian Brady is playing a game with Ian Stewart, or he is playing a game with the phoney.

  20. Joseph Jordan Says:

Having just read “The Gates of Janus” (possibly my favorite book at this point), I was interested in writing to the very intriguing Brady, if there is even still time (I imagine he is about 70 now).

If you have the prison/mental institution address and his inmate number, I would appreciate it. Feel free to convey the info privately…

    Hi Joe ,

  22. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) MSc Science. Says:

The anniversary is tommorrow, and the Full Moon is on the 18th. It is now very illuminating and as Myra said of Pauline she ‘remembered the outline of rocks’ This then was by moonlight on the horizon looking up. The moon on the Moor moves through the night in spring and summer. At midnight it is the darkest. I hope our efforts bring some illumination too in a different way as nature has a way of helping and hindering man and woman.

Buried here spade in shale on her map is two journeys. One is to the layby as she said in her words on the map, and the other crossing over this stream is to the shale bank. Tell me how you can bury a spade and cover it at the same time, you cannot. What is buried in shale then?

Lets hope that some illumination of mind takes the map for its deceptive phases.

i think he should be bargianed with.say he can have hes transfer if he pinpoints the grave of keith bennett on saddleworth moor.when a true grave site has been identified then refuse to co operate in his transfer and if he wishes let him starve himself to death.i read a book stating that to completely dig up the area of the moor where the authorities know where keith is likely to be buried would be a waste of tax payers money.this government should be used to wasting our money.and whats money if keith is laid to rest correctly and his family no longer have to go through all the anguish and heart wrenching torment.as usual the suffering have to endure more suffering.please reply on what you think about my comments.keith bennett-god bless and look after this child and all his family.mr brady,i hope and you will burn in the fires of hell.

  24. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Having corresponded with Giovanni, Ian’s solicitor and sent just one of the enhanced photos that denotes a logical spot for a sane mind I am now sure Ian reads every last print on himself.

Thus, the fact that these murders were different.

    One.

Pauline Reade was a ’signature killing’ and reading both Fred Harrison and Topping books the errors in the latter as the the record of ‘the Hill’ show she said it for a reason. If Pauline’s brother is to believed and why not? Then Myra was on the corner when Pauline had been taken on the wasteground where a man was battered to death by the locomotive yard and her father and other men were questioned at the time.

See the Manchester Evening News of 8th October as to headline ‘Eleven perfect murders’. Then you will see where the myth came from.

Ian did not in my academic view have a motive or activity to do perfect murders but to do bank robberies to brag of as he did in Borstal and to deviants. It is a phantasy and a fantasy, for the definition of both as both are spelt right go to Melanie Klein website as to childhood internalised phantasies that are externalised.

The late Commissioner Mike Todd fully understood the concept that I wrote of and my method of writing as he had an MA. It is with great sadness I cannot have come to a successful field search in time, and there are many amateurs and many devoted professionals as well as amateurs as there are deviants who mock others.

To go back as Ian will be reading in this time.

    Ian, and Giovanni.

To be sane you have to show some cognition outside narcissistic behaviour. The fact Pauline Reade died when Myra was still insitu and the red bike was not seen and a mayhem of a scene outsider David Smith’s home with Maureen shows that at the time she, Myra, was not on the Moor.

The fact is in Topping the van used to carry her made clandestine journeys past Dukinfield after midnight and engaged in a ramming procedure whilst still a provisional driver, and whilst as indicated in Lost Boy she had a police man who was married in tow at the time as his mother worked at Belle Vue.

So the van to transport Pauline was named as the legal owner that was her boss and so if the van had been seen this man would have hanged.

See ‘Lost Boy’ by Duncan Staff.

The fact that Ian to Mrs Downey in her book of letters from Ian shows Ian says that Myra dug the grave and transported grasses torn from another part of the Moor is indicative of what Professor ……told me in US of clandestine grave growth as covering a fynbos area as overtaking the natural species. In the following year it did just that he told me some time ago. The outline of rocks placed the location very specifically.

So we have for validity an event that cannot have happened or a glove that cannot have been lost as I have indicated as to the terrain and the lost glove Mrs Reade has that Myra knew she would know. It is not silly to realise that she would know and be aware of all those years of what Myra was intimating in her tale.

Second. Ian Brady. A gambler. Where is the man after work? The answer as he says is in the bookies watching the last race. Not at a market, for that is womens work, and he being the man he is does not do domestic, shopping, or minding kids. He says it in his own discourse.

So Myra took ‘Mounsey’s lad, John Kilbride and this time engaged Ian. Did she bring him along as a gravedigger or to cement the continued employment of her sister Maureen in some form of employment at the chemical works?

Keith. She says in the book by Duncan Staff she knew him and saw him pass Ian’s house. So can we trust that Ian did what was said and took the credit as he did for murders of adults and for robberies he never had the ‘balls’ to carry out. It was all Kleinian phantasy internalised in my view.

If we look at the times they are as a novice townie driver on a Moor such as the A road is known who understands her own self preservation and her own satisfaction. The Moor is not a Moor for such ‘townies’ and so she would not have entered the Moor that she had not found sure-footed. She chose places of safe parking and safe preservation and afforded a landscape of advantage.

As a landowner of such construction I can assure you to dig is to find shale some inches down and biomass and have to start all over again, even worse at night as the ground is dewy and waterlogged at some features.

Also true is that sheep, dogs and vermin are buried as we found from ancient times and the 19th and 20 century, yet a dog will react to these and a metal detector too as we observed.

Ian Brady cannot be allowed out as he from local information passed Greenfield in a high vehicle which would afford him a view along the said A635. Myra calls it A365 and the irony is that it was a deliberate mistake and a map of an infantile mind as an ordinance survey map that had Kleinian child-like undertones to have the belief she was ‘affected’ due to Ian.

There was in my view a deliberate act to conceal what is a timeline of all the murders so Ian could get his day out also.

    IT WORKED.

All he had to do after Pauline was found was fake it in my view and carry on past the point as no markers denote the area known as Hoe Grain, or Shiney (sic) Brook. The contours and shapes are of a road not a stream and so the ergonomics are in her mind and her tales to change at will. So I wonder if the ruse of her and he separating have been a grand ploy since the 1960’s and that he takes credit for a mastermind?

Now if Ian is a mastermind he can answer what the feature was that the children were placed in to police or to his lawyer. Can say the chronological times of the event and the conditions and can say that the area was planned and why as he has on others in his book.

Yet I challenge he cannot as he was and is not a mastermind but a very sick and mentally ill man that is in the right place till he dies. He is not a man who could engage in prison.

If Ian Brady as his solicitor says wants to get out of a mental health care and securement facility he has to put some credibility of his role into play as the facts are that he is a ‘participant observer’ and not the ‘participant’. Therefore, Ian did have the sadism but was a weak man in finding and using his ‘prey’ as to a ‘private cemetary’.

I would stake my Masters in Science in behavioural and Medical Frontiers that Ian Brady will not and cannot reveal a feature that contains Keith Bennett. In that sense he is insane and so has delusions of omnipotence that he is not valid to have. Prove me wrong.

I am on the Moors waiting for validity and empirical evidence. My expenses are my own and fund my team who are a call away from police if they are at all unsure of what to do or the next step.

For Winnie in her white cardigan on the Moors we owe it to her and Ipromised after my successful Masters ceremoney in Glasgow where Ian could never be.

The message is clear. There is no information Ian Brady can impart as he is mentally ill and insane and as such his cognition is depressive phase and pschotic as Kleinian and Winnicottian clinical psychology outlines of childhood deficits in ‘transference’ and ‘counter transference’.

Excuse grammatical errors as am writing without reading glasses and not on Word spell checker.

The full moon is tonight for four days. That says it all.

If you go to the earlier link and use the fourth button as arrow the drawing is done as I do it and reconstructs the path of my thinking in correlating the unpublished photo and this map of Myra’s. Note.

The dots that were random on the shale bank which are below my suspect area are from accident. It was only after loading this image of my work that the image of a smiling face below the bend became clear. Eerie in the extreme.
The rockface resembles an old ‘clapper bridge’ as a ford where the old Near Rough Clough ran and tributary of Far Rough Clough under the place the quarry pack horses ran. Due to the relevance the intended target of Myra could have dumped someone here and got the blame for it as I have said in motive for all the others.

  29. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

It is my view that Ian Brady should under no circumstances be allowed the millions of pounds funding from taxpayers to come out for a ‘jolly’. He has shown to those trying to help him remember that he has narcissistic qualities that are performed at will for his audience. He is a danger at large to society as he has nothing to loose. He will not pinpoint Keith Bennett’s grave as it is all to easy to fix by a simple look at any picture of the rocks, horizon and the location fixed evermore to the other known victims.

Because of this lack of consciousness he is insane, is unable to connect with those academic, professional or the mundane as he viewed them.

I truly think that Ian Brady was not there at the burial and a bystander because of his lack of clarity where he boasts of none existent murders and planned bank hoists but not the detail of the act.

Thus when Pauline Reade died it was an act that he said Myra had planned in clandestine burial. That she had stolen the half crown and he had been told, and that she had made a comment recorded of the necklace. If in darkness and failing light Ian could have seen Myra doing her Fagin impression stealing from Pauline it is unlikely as is the one of her taking the necklace as trophy items. More likely it was as her brother reports in the book of Fred Harrison a vendetta of her own volition and Brady became hooked on the adrenalin after bottles of warm Liebfraumilch.

Thus, the coin thrown was at a later stage after this information came to pass. Explain it any other way. The issue is none of it fits.

John Kilbride, the market lad. Stolen after work and taken to the Moors in a hired Ford Anglia that had run over a ploughed field, it did not need to seem so. Therefore where had that car as a saloon gone?

Had the handbrake slipped in darkness or had it gone to the other side of the Moor or what?

Keith Bennett. It is sure that if the plan of doorstep killings is true for Pauline then Myra added one to Ian’s doorstep. Logically Mrs Brady would not let Myra in and the fact she had Keith in the car and no Ian meant how with no phone did she tell Ian she had the lad? The one common denominator is the factory and where she could make calls, but who would call on Ian and tell him, that is the mystery? So where was Ian when Myra drove by as in her accounts of knowing the boy, surely Ian would class his neighbours as one of his own, or to close to upset his mother. After all there had been another child in his street murdered by a neighbour at the same time.

Ian Brady cannot have been allowed out as freely as the mistake is to believe Ian lived with Myra and her granny. That is not true. He lived at home. So where is Keith. Ian does not know or cannot remember the story that was in her grasp as she is dead.

That is why Ian will not be granted a day out to tour the Moors for another experiment. He failed, not the police, he could have said the feature, the nearness to the others or absense. He did neither of those so he cannot reveal where as he says and I challenge Keith is.

If so there are maps to aid his memory that can be sent in to the mental hospital. An x is all they need. That is an x for not and a cross for where. No cross will ensue.

hi pauline i av been up to the moors today i would be grateful if u could e mail me sweet as i need to speak to you mclly1@aol.com

  31. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Back in time. John Kilbride. Without Mounsey the missing lad would be still on the Moors in a walk that is said to have been done by Pauline.
Yet the truth is that Lesley Anne Downey and John Kilbride plus Pauline Reade could not have walked to their death because of the events uncovered by Fred Harrison and because both Lesley Anne and John were yards, not tens of yards from the roadway. Above and below is where they were buried in winter frosty conditions. Yet, they are asking the public to believe a story of Keith walking miles to his grave in conditions that induce hypothermia after a few minutes walking as we encountered in a spring squall. That the evening darkness was where Myra stopped yards away from the road and watched Ian round a bend. Cannot be done. That Myra did not see the ‘weir’ and of course neither could he.

The truth is that Myra did the act of manual labour as Ian watched, yet to admit it he is a failed actor of the infamy he wanted. The events are not compatible with the Moorland night temperatures and the location where he was taken and by who or whom. Therefore like John he has to be near the road by a few feet and Myra had to have been the major mastermind, not Ian. He faked the confession of Veronica Bondi as he knew I suggest who did kill her but took great store in telling a youth that married the sister of the monster that he had done great things.

The psychology is all to clear in drawing ‘the Krays’ and the name John Kilbride. He had to stand in their shoes and think of the crimes they did and the way a victim was buried under a road, yet it was a pipedream same as doing a heist of mastermind proportions. A fake, and a dreamer with a deadly poisonous snake who wrote shorthand.

i av had my 3rd visit to the moors and finally found my right destiniation.the silence and the freedom is so eerie yet the draw to its beauty is amazing.as i arrived i was greeted with a curlew sat on a boulder.i stood near the remains of a bunch of flowers and popped balloons tied to the fence on the right side of the road as u come from dovestones.they were bound in pink ribbon and only the pink ribbon remains in its glory..i walked down to the old ruin with no roof again i was drawn here dont ask me why!! i need to speak to the family as i am being given clues about the boy himself its like i av to tell his mum so to speak..if any1 can help me at all that would be gr8.ppl i speak to tend to be putting me on the crackpot pile, this i do understand BUT i dont do giving up easy…..

  33. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

There is no way you can speak to the family as that would be stalking, it would also be frightening too. You have walked three times on a Moor, I have emailed you and you are pretending to have difficulties in writing and use the ruse of writing in a certain way. Being versed in psychology as Kleinian counter transference your slip is showing through.

There are no flowers at Dovestones as to Bin Green only those shown on the Feathers site where they are shown with the ribbon and on the gate to the Wessenden Head Reservoir. The ruin as Rimmon Pit is not there but is on the brow which elevates Dovestones. There is now a mill that is overlooking this at over one million pounds up for sale I note.

Strange you mention curlew when it is in Moorland Night by the mad and suicidal woman who wrote poetry as a macabre mind of psychopathic manic depression phases. You are using clues as another person does that is an entertainer and a clown, a court jester. My information is this is a person more ‘bent’ that Yuri Geller’s spoons. Hope you do not take offence, but do not upset families unless scientifically you have something to offer that needs investigating and is unanswered. A feeling, a psychic vision and a hunch is not enough to find her son’s remains and that is the reality of it. There is a grave out there that is watched still by someone who can do so is my view and that person was told of the grave. That person has no pact with God only the Devil.

i av given u my e mail address and also my phone number why would i do this if i was entertaining or a court jester i find nothing humourous in any of this at all..
all aside the work and effort you are doing on this is top class and i want to say he WILL be found, many ppl av given up to easily.

  36. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Micky, I am not casting at your spelling for I am dyslexic and disabled and also a healer, yet there have been 700 hundred gifted persons who have invaded the family, some are good intentions and some are in it for the race. As to the jester well there are those that are in it for the kudos and not for putting in the fork to find the boy in the correct manner. I have many healer psychic friends and I too am gifted but on the side of the Moors I have not given up and have employed the services of experts and expert opinion to remove the biases I had and have. I have been hoodwinked big time in this case and will not be any more. There are people who have reached levels of dignity I admire and there are those that thirst for anothers knowledge to find another place to have a go. So I am sorry if it meant to hurt a person that is genuine, the jester knows who that person is. I thought the way the curlew is spelt correctly there was since silence of your email reply Micky a doubt in my mind. I do menial jobs making beds in other peoples homes to pay for the petrol of labourers and of landmen and volunteers, I pay for their food and am there to guide and take the flack. But I do not take them into danger as I was taken into danger and dumped unceremoniously.

To share the scientific findings with those who can tread the Moor is an ethical thing if those who can have the time can do as I ask. I do not post it here where Ian Brady will have it relayed to him. My view is the same. The shovel if there was one was placed like the sword in a stone, it will be hilt down and spade up yet no metal detector has found it. So there is either no spade there, or those found by an expert are part of the cache or those of amateur, police and professional excavators at some point in time over 60 or more years.
I repeat. The court jester is here and on many boards and has many identities and is not one person.

Ian knows who the jesters are and plays them to this tune. Not me as I am the one that did all the things he could never do in society as a law abiding person using the slums as an award of my past in Manchester and in Glasgow to show that a home is a bed with a roof of any sort over it shared my many in social poverty of the mill age. Be proud of the heritage of mill age children and forget Ian Brady and Myra Hindley for she was a slum parasite and lived off the back of her grannie and forcefed bull sh… to her sister, or was it the other way round as two symbiotic sisters?

My apologies for the offence taken. I need you and others on that Moor to be the champions unknown for Winnie. There is no greater reward than unseen champions, he is near the damn road. Blast it all the others were too. Townies then did not have the gear we have and knowledge of land erosion. Saddleworth Moor is not a strip of pastry. It is a landscape where you can die, it is a landscape where you can live and see the major ice age geological differences in each inch of the land, not least charting the ways that you cannot go in darkness and can in light.

  37. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

    News of the World.

Ian Brady is a fake. Like his drawings he fantasies of murders that others commit and of great robberies that draw media attention as for him the monetory gain is not the same as the chanting oration of the bastard Hitler who died in a bunker.

Ian Brady does not know where Keith is and nor I assert did he Pauline. He listened as he read the Sporting Life and visited a place and places that Myra as a competant driver led him too.

Ian Brady did not bury them, he had tendancies of habitutal life needs he keeps today. I say as David Kirwan says ‘put up or shut up’ unless you can indicate some factual presence that you were there at the time. I think not.

  38. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

I dare Ian to say otherwise as he is not at Rimmon Pit ruins, and not outside the area of self preservation. He is in fact near the others.

Ian Brady recounts a dialogue not a description of Pauline Reade and her burial spot. It is a narrative of someone else’s story. I challenge him to prove otherwise.

  39. Micky Says:

when the pair was at the moor, they were there to commit the evil crimes they did and also to satisfy there perverted sexual needs.in the time of their evil doings was a time wen cars were not as frequent upon the roads and privacy was not much of an issue and being disturbed would not be much of a problem.again im not educated too well and am going wiv my common sense on this..they also used an area which was freqented wiv courting couples and picnicers ..if you were doing something there u shouldnt be doing you would want to make sure you was away from eye view or the chance of being in someones eye view..so wouldnt it make sense that u would want to be away from an area u could be possibly seen in..also remembering they took a neighbours child up there regularly so to see the couple with a child wouldnt be unusual at that time ..

  40. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Micky, the route was used frequently by a known haulage company which parked at night on layby to sleep over. This haulage company is and has produced a dvd of the route now and the elevation is seen along this from the cab, also the stop on request double decker ran to the Isle of Sky Inn and to Huddersfield and stopped to let children off at school who were at farms including the one on the bend. Also as the Pennine way was near to the spot that Lesley Anne was buried it was also there as were bikers and gypsies at that time and farm shepherds who work at night chasing off poachers, sheep rustlers and wild dogs as it is a man’s livelihood and his land.

The places where the children were found as in John Kilbride’s case was down a bank and beside a road and his grave then could be seen a few feet from this bank and on a approaching the bend from the road if you knew it was there. It took and takes one minute to get to his grave and can be done in office cloths and flat shoes in darkness. The same for Lesley Anne and Pauline too. The time and distance I have mapped on a Garmin GPS system. Be sure the farmer then who owns it now knows every inch of his land, but not the geology which is where I come in with my industrial archeology experience and marine and geological honours in and expertise.

The child next door fed on drink would be a sizing of the grave to be dug, but do not forget that it snowed heavily and Myra had a dead body in her house over night with grannie Maybury in Dukinfield. The snow on that ledge above would be virgin snow as no footprints and so the cab going over would spot it unless a cover had been placed of cardboard over the grave dug at Christmas eve. More likely the grave of Lesley Ann was a boulder removed leaving an indentation in the ground and the soil below removed on the night the child was there, hence the return after the child was returned to check and recheck the routine of the haulage vans and to know when to go back during the dawn as they had done for four years. They were not buried on what is known as Saddleworth Moor, but to the verges of shelter that sheep use and with Pauline near to Grouse Butts as hides for the sport then.

  41. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Micky, the pair are only recorded practicing sadism on Lesley Anne Downey on the evening of the Boxing Day, the 26th of December, 1964. The tapes show Myra could have saved her and they relayed the tone of a sadiomasochism personality who shouted at the child she would hit her. All the time it was her bedroom and her grannies house in Hyde that she took Lesley Anne to. Not to Ian’s mothers house. Lesley Anne was deceased before she left the house as is recorded. Her stepfather drove a removal van over the Moors and often stayed over night in it. Myra would know that and if they found Lesley Anne before the pair were known to be perverts then as he had been interviewed and grilled before like the other father’s and stepfathers of missing children he would have faced the hangman’s noose. Victim 3 as first one found did not die on the Moors and was placed in Myra’s house by Myra who was at the fair, suggesting that her sister Maureen must also have been with her as they stayed long enough to remember the Stones recorde Little Red Rooster by the swirling cars on the fairground in the afternoon. Ian would be at his mother’s one would think or in the bookies as an afternoon treat off work. I cannot see in behavioural patterns of gender identities Ian taking each afternoon off reading the racing form and being at the bookies to go to either a market or a fair.

Go back to Pauline and we see that Fred Harrion in Genesis of the Moors who was given the confession of two more murders in 1987 in hospital of Pauline Reade and Keith Bennett found a credible witness to dispute what she said of the act of murder of Pauline Reade.

Paul Reade, her brother coming from the cinema and up Taylor Road, past Gorton Monastery and up past the pub where Pauline was last seen is doing so at 9.05 pm. Pauline is last seen by two friends heading up by Bayer Peacock foundry and the wasteland past the pub as as short cut. It is 8.05pm and her mother leaves her on the corner as the girls take a detour to meet Pauline on the main road to the social club dance.

But this is not the only situated murder in that region that cast a shadow on the Hindley’s and the other residents. Locals and the press recount the murder by stabbing of Ben Marsden on October 18th, 1959. He was found at Graveney Street and was 50, and lived at Dalkeith Street. He is one of the eleven perfect murders in the Manchester Evening News where Brady confesses to two in that adult list. He did not kill those two police found.

However, going back to the timelines. Myra said she and Ian were on the look out for victims to do the first one, she in the van and he on his bike behind which was a moped bike with police flashing and red, so very distinctive then. He drove this at less than 30 miles an hour and kids tied cans to it when in the lanes of the Gorton slums. She said Ian the week of the murder gave her a record and did so on each murder run up. In the Topping book it says she said he gave her the record ‘The Hill’ and she went to the pictures to see the film ‘ The Hill’ and ‘The day of the Triffids’ yet my archival research shows that the record and film were not out till over one year later. SO A TIMETRAVELLER THEN??

The films that were on in Oldham that she could have seen were ‘Wrong arm of the law’ and ‘Scapegoat’ where an actor is two people that change identity just as Myra and Maureen had wigs from what must have been the Fred Aldous theatrical place by the Woolworths in Piccadily which was also the scene of another murder. Each wig as blonde and black could resemble each other so why buy a black wig in the first place when she coul be mistaken for Maureen and vice versa?

The murder of Abraham Cullen on October 20th, 1956 was by the brazier at the side of C & A which is opposite Woolworth’s or was then. He had been battered to death and was 53. It was during his nightwatchman duties he was killed.

But taking two murders where Myra is said to frequent and is not in Borstal during these reigns of terror we go to the timeline of Pauline and why she did not die on the Moor.

When Pauline is missing for over one hour from 8.05 pm we have Paul Reade observing as he walks past the Hindley house and grannie Maybury house the scene of fight as he comes up Taylor Street and enters his home street by the railway.

Maureen Hindley and David Smith are fighting and a scene is going on for some time. It is recorded as 9.05 pm. Myra is on the corner watching before going and getting Maureen. They are now outside Mrs Reade’s house where she comes out after this and they are gone and David has gone into the lodgings to her next door. There is the glove of Paulines’, a white pristine glove. Here the story departs as Myra says she went to the Moors and told Pauline it was she who had lost a glove knowing all the time the white glove that Mrs Reade showed everyone and told everyone that was in the kitchen draw for over 23 years till Brady let it be known Myra had taken her and killed her with him being cast the villain as he wanted for his ego.

Myra in Topping book is recorded as saying she used the grocers round van that toured the estates and was owned by her boss Ben Boyce near Dukinfield and that she had gone at the insistance of Brady who saw Pauline and the took her. That would be around 7.45 to 8.05 pm when she was at the location. Now Paul sees both Myra and Maureen and David at 9.05 pm. So how does the van get from Gorton to Greenfield, then watch her walk to her death and Ian Brady and return after her burial which in reconstruction of timelines takes up to three hours return journey, and the acts themselves as described?

THE ANSWER IS IT NEVER HAPPENED THAT WAY.

Myra is recorded as saying she went in the van and woke Ben Boyce up as she had forgot he needed to pick up a broken down van. That means another journey at midnight as she woke him up at his house where she babysat his kids is recorded. So if she went to the Moors it was after 10.30 pm as she says she saw Mrs Reade and Paul up the road by the Monastery and the social club. The only way Myra can see Mrs Reade and Paul is after the dance and at this time of after 10.30 pm. She was at the house location at 9.05 pm so had no time to dump Pauline or to remove her due to the time there and back from Gorton to Greenfield and to bury her.

Thus, the timelines are wrong as you can see from empirical evidence of Paul Reade relayed to Fred Harrison and from the witnesses themselves.
    I will carry on later.

  42. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Now if we look at what is not factual we see witness evidence that is uncontaminated in complete immersion as a participant observation strategy, that in plain words is biased to the person that is being interviewed for reasons unknown.

Ben Boyce’s van which Myra borrowed often had to be on the Moor Road for a reason, as there were no courting couples on the Moor, nor picnics. It was not the favourite place for locals as I have been told, nor from outsiders to as the farm is owned and policed as to the flock and is fenced off. It is also patrolled at night. A stray dog worrying sheep was hunted and shot so think of the risk Myra took in being there. So why this location? The answer is it was either a place a person on duty in uniform had a run and was his beat as her police officer lover at the time, or it was the route for Millwards Chemicals supplying drums of cargo to Huddersfield, or it was that Ben Boyce taught her with the other men knew in her late teens. Or it could have been to take her dad to the game fights in pubs that were outside the Manchester area. Choose what you will. Ian Brady had not been long enough in Manchester to suddenly go over the Moors and for what reason. He would not be familiar with the Moors. Scotland he would know as to his natural comfort zone, a feature he has created all his life of nesting in a home that is sheltered and protective, hence Borstal, remand, Strangeways and of course prison and the mental institution. He had need of sheltered housing that went into a criminal need for a roof above his head, sustenance and above all protection and fame. So of course he would lie to get this as he has done all his life. It may not seem lies to him, as he is of diminished responsibility and of a mindset of villain instead of victim. His slip is showing in the need to be legitimate in life as one awarded praise and fear. Yet it is like his outbursts a smoke screen. A diversion.

Pauline Reade died and David Smith did not know as she was not the first beauty to win David’s heart and be scared off, albeit this was murder in the extreme.

Maureen got her boy, and Myra made sure it stayed that way whilst it suited her. Pauline in contrast had her last journey in Ben Boyce’s van to the Moors where Myra buried her. Then she went to Ben Boyce’s house at Dukinfield and woke him up after burying Pauline single handed on the Moor she had planned. She had the means to put Maureen’s pram in to ferry her the very short distance. It might be disputed but try as you will the time is out to the Moor in the van after 10.30 not before as she says of her routine to Ben. So Ian cannot have done as she says.

Her route takes her to the van and then she takes the van home. Meanwhile the route must take in the Moor road and so if a van were spotted she was being towed by the van that was the tow vehicle broken down was the one which had the damage to the back. The van she steered was not the murder van, it was the recovered on so the murder van was the one driven by Ben Boyce who would only have Myra as an alibi if Pauline were found. Ben gave her this van and kept it in his name, so when there was a problem he was convicted as to a demeanour. A few weeks later of all the people the policeman who she knew bought or was given the van by Myra. Why and for what purpose I thought reading Toppings book?

Myra true to her nature gave him the van, the van that had transported the body of Pauline Reade. None of this is hearsay as it is in the book of Topping and the events of the witness and account are in Fred Harrisons book, the round is discussed in Monsters of the Moor. The chronology of reconstruction I have done myself as to what is timelines of what can be done.

Thus, Pauline rests in peace. We know where she is now and who she met. But where is Ian in all this as he says in For the Love of Lesley that he ‘heard’ her say that the necklace she wore would not be needed where she was going. So was this a narrative or a description of what he personally had witnessed at the time?

He also says she stole the half crowns in her coat pocket and he said it was a hanging offence for robbery and murder. They were thrown in the field he says. Yet no metal detector had recovered the two half crowns. No one could in the light at the time on the Moors at midnight see the act and witness it nor tear grasses and put them on her grave as he says she did. It had to be after this had been done in my view as the act is not a choreographed performance of validity. Ian might have gone later but doubt in my mind persists of did he kill Pauline as is written. I think not due to the above two long debates on who saw what and where.

If we take this as the events to come the licence is that Myra murdered for gain, for envy, for greed and for pleasure and for subversive acts of legality in a backyard that would protect her as a potential police trainee. What do you think? Read the reports in the books and check the Oldham Chronical archives on microfilch and you will see the other murders to follow fitted the first and last Moors murder as to ’signature killer’ category as organised killer and apprentice or observer - participant category. Let me know what you think.

  43. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Pauline, I find your knowledge and thoughts very interesting, and I am trying to follow the timeline you lay out. So could you possibly describe for my simple mind the way you think Pauline’s abduction and murder happened?

I still think Brady was involved, because (if I remember correctly) wasn’t Pauline’s neck cut from behind so severely that she was almost beheaded- a bloody killing more like that of Evans- whereas weren’t little Downey and Kilbride strangled? Brady did kill Evans, didn’t he? I mean he was not just standing there watching Myra swing the axe, was he?

Also, I read somewhere that coroners examining Pauline’s body took over a month to determine that she had been sexually assaulted.

  44. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Pauline, I left you a post a few days ago under “Ian Brady: Moors Murders and False Memories”, which I guess is an older page. Thanks you for all you do!

Silly Old Twit, thank you for your website. Your story is very interesting, and your childhood with your father must have been very difficult.

Thank you and bless all out there who are still working hard to find little Keith.

  45. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

You presume that what you read is correct and that it is what happened. I have not seen or heard any evidence save that Myra did not enable Pauline to be found, nor did Ian. The scientist that is not credited is Professor Bruno Frohlick a leading expert on forensic botany who said to look the following spring for an outcrop of invasive species. Now if you have ever examined an old graveyard you will see that there are germinated species on the older ones and a calibration pit. But in summer the July 7th the picture shows just that. Myra suddenly remembers she says to Topping who was the head of the investigation and wrote of it in the book of that name that she ‘remembered’ the line of rocks on the horizon. That placed Pauline further back as the syncline after Diggle Rake goes diagonal. There she knew all along that to the front and at an angle was the body which was found of Lesley Anne Downey.

I am not going to reveal how each was murdered, but remember I am from the Trafford Park region of AEI and he was not said to be gay. So if Myra dressed as is recorded in a tarts clothing then at the milk bar, or the railway station where only she could park and approach him she was not engaging a ‘queer to roll’ as the terminology went at the time in explanation of how to pay David Smith’s rent. It is my view that Myra did some act that had been done before, do not forget she had already a married police officer lover locally. So what sort of act do you think she might have offered in the living room of grannie. What do you think the reaction to this might be?

A teenager of 17 then would not have surplus income as he had to pay his keep, Ian of all people would know that. So why pick an apprentice at a factory in this region, why indeed? The answer is just like Pauline, John, Keith and Lesley Anne they were niave and were approachable to her mannish ways. She was mannish and not in the least feminine, do not forget the age of her at the time, she was no girl and certainly no chaste beauty, but Ian in his way loved her as he loved the act of oneness of someone singing the same tune. I mean in literature as to the arts which he fed on and was fed on.

It is clear above my thoughts on where and how Pauline died and I will not cause pain as other books have on recording from their notebooks the inside information that should have stayed out of the public domain and not in a hard back book to the masses.

The will be a rehearsal of who is to be credited with finding Keith when it happends and other books written as to money to speak of this revelation. The simple walker with a dog or the simple climber, roadworker or highway engineer will not be credited. Nor will any scientist or those who worked so hard to make it happen. It has all about money. Winnie wants it to stay in the public eye so they do not forget who she is and who she lost. So the battles of humiliation, rejection and hoodwinking I bear with a badge of dedication for I am no money making machine using her as my ticket to it.

False Memories I will look at but there is no such thing with Ian. He makes it up as he did the infantile twin images of the Kray twins on the notebook where he wrote John Kilbride beside the cartoon. He doodled and hence that is why John was so very near the road and not on the Moor, he was under the road in the mindset of the way they did a murder. The logic is his words are hollow like a tree with no sap, they have no meaning, semantic, autobiographical or sensory. In short ‘feel, felt, found’ are not there whereas in Myra she had all three but disguised them for each gender, class and status attendee of whatever level of social importance even not fearing God as the higher order.

  46. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

For interested in Phoenix. Read and see the diagram of Fred Harrison then compare the street and timelines with what is said in the so called autobiography of the police chief Topping to compare and contrast the times and the discrepancies. Note also in ethnography there are biases inflicted when one gets to close to the participant one is observing. It is natural to value one from the same society in contrast to the outsider. It is not the view in Scotland of this heinous individual, it is the other way round and most normal people or those that knew her and were not affected by her in her seductive manner saw through the gravel voice like coal dust on an icecream and fag ash fingers that were like tentacles of bone and scrawny as an old prawn left out to dry. Now there is poetic licence for you, soft hands and a warm heart she never had, a big arse yes the reports say by men who knew her. Maybe Ian Brady never saw it in daylight, or at all?

Read also the Devil and Janie Jones, Jean Richie and the book by Judge Sparrow. Most are out of date but are on ebay at some point in time.

If Harrison’s interviews were with the neighbours as they were and the location diagram that is the first empirical evidence of timelines and of location as no other author has supplied a route of the last seen sighting of Pauline to reconstruct. I have reconstructed it and the time to go to Greenfield and the Holmfirth Road is around 45 minutes without the motorways and fast cars of now. It still took us over 45 minutes with evening traffic and with the traffic lights in a performance car which she did not have.

Read what you will. The fact is Myra could not have been at the place and time she says she was. Therefore, the row with Maureen and David is not relayed by him as to the content in the book, so we can only guess why Myra was so concerned, why would she be watching? Maureen could more than stick up for herself. The wasteland is the last place Pauline was seen by her friends. It places both Myra and Maureen in visual distance to her. Did Pauline see David and ask him to go to the dance with her on the way to this place, and did the jealous envy as G.. says his other girlfriend cause a vicious rage. G.. moved she says because at school she was threatened by her.

Pauline is now at peace and her attackers will be found out after Ian dies as he will not need the story of his involvement of whatever capacity, extent or validity anymore. Till then there are only one person alive that knows what that fight was about, that is David Smith.

  47. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Pauline, I love your use of metaphors! In the horror of all this they are an amusing side relief. I want to make clear that in no way do I wish to minimize Myra as the monster she was, nor her involvement in these atrocities.

You are right in that, as a complete outsider, I have only read the usual accounts for the public, Staff and Williams, “reporters” but also outsiders, and soon Topping, Harrison, and Potter. Staff’s account is mostly Myra’s account, so we know that is not the truth. Supposedly when Brady dies his account will be published, but what is there to believe in what he says? He lies also- in the past claiming murders that he did not commit, visiting America, etc. (By the way, I have no desire to read Brady’s Gates of Janus book, nor would I ever want to write him! My interest in this case does not go in those directions.)

So, I also have tried to find information online- not much there, just the same repeated accounts copied over and over. So it was a bit of a surprise to find this website of Silly Old Twit and read your thoughts on all this, as well as your search efforts. Other than the proven known factual facts, the only truth lies in the accounts of the locals of the time, like yourself, and those who knew Brady and Hindley. It seems like those who did know more weren’t talking. I have wondered if that was because they were afraid of the Hindley reputation in the neighborhood, afraid of repercussions, so to speak.

So, if I ask a lot of questions it is because I know that what I have read so far is NOT the whole truth, or at least there are huge gaps. For instance, your stating Paul Reade saw Myra on the corner in her van at around 9:00 PM- that I believe. So, I cannot help but wonder where Pauline was between 8:00 and 9:00.

  48. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

She was in Myra Hindley’s grandmothers house.

  49. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Wouldn’t that have been extremely risky? I am assuming that you believe Myra had already killed Pauline between 8 and 9. But why place her body in her grandmother’s tiny house, and how in so doing without being seen by someone in the street? I read in Staff that (in Gorton) her grandmother slept downstairs in the living room in front of the fire. Even if her grandmother didn’t wake up, another family member might have dropped by. Plus, she would have had to leave the body unguarded while she was back out in the van. Then at some point there would also have been the problem of removing the body without being seen. Why take these risks? Why would Myra not have just left the body in the back of the van instead?

  50. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

She might have done, but remember Grannie Maybury never twigged Lesley Anne Downey had been killed in her house and carpets etc removed. She never seemed to have come out of her room to go to the bathroom when Eddie died and was taken in even though her bedroom was looking out to the front and cries from blows from an axe do not sound in one single shriek as if a tape had dropped. Here is a woman who lived through two world wars and saw and heard terror. She never was heard to come out and see what the noise was in bumping Eddie up the stairs after this commotion and in small terraces you would hear from the masterbedroom the racket below as the kitchen was above the single spair room of Myra’s with the single box room and narrow stairs.
You ask questions of a family member dropping by and they just did not get in as David says, they did not have an open door policy. She, Myra parasited grannies house when they moved and you should ask why did not Ian and Myra as double incomes do as David and Maureen had done and get a flat of their own. The answer is Myra needed grannie to do the housework and to mind the dogs, and to supply the boring stuff and the bills. Ian did not live there as his bike and kit were at his mothers. He paid his keep and did as he was told for his stepfather, in short he adored and still does his mother. Adored. If you look at why grannie was upstairs in the trial books she was in her own house an d not to old at the time. See the trial books and grannie shouting down to her of the noise. Then fact is Grannie Maybury had other children from another marriage and visited them at Dukinfield as one would.

There is no assuming of time of death as Myra said she was on the Moor when Mrs Reade was walking her to the friends, so that is 8.05 pm. Add on 15 minutes or so for a conversation and then add on 15 for the eruption of an argument at David Smith’s lodgings and Maureen fighting and Myra stood not in a van, by the corner and we see that she said that she saw Mrs Reade after the dance with Paul coming down the lane when she was in the van.

Myra did not get seen taking anyone anywhere and perhaps that is because of a wall of silence. I cannot answer for a monster in the midst of her own society, or who used gender as a weapon of indecency, lust and gain in any way she could. Risky is what Myra did not view as risky as she belonged in Gorton and was entrenched as a family before others came to live there and who made ordinary domestic lives.

  51. Interested in Phoenix Says:

However Pauline was abducted, I do not believe any of the victims were ever in Grannie’s house in Gorton.

The abduction and murder of these children (except for Evans) involved no uncalculated risks. In fact, if not for the discovery of the “lost luggage”, the first four murders would probably still be unsolved today.

We know in the month of December Lesley Ann Downey was brought inside the home at Hattersley, but Hindley and Brady were alone- Grannie was off visiting her son and not at home. While in Gorton and before moving to Hattersley, I suspect John Kilbride was kept in the van for some time, as the weather on the moors in November would have prohibited much outside activity due to exposure. Also while in Gorton and before Hattersley, Pauline (July) and Keith (June) were abducted in the warmer summer months when the weather on the moors would not have been so prohibitive.

According to Smith, Brady made a comment in referring to the murder of Evans along the lines of “we were not due another one for a few more months” and also told him that the murder of Evans was out of sequence- which makes one wonder if there was another yet-undiscovered victim during the previous summer months. The abductions and murders of the first four children occurred in intervals of 4-7 months. There was a 10 month interval between the murder of Lesley Ann Downey and Evans. So, if Evans was out of sequence, it seems likely that Brady and Hindley murdered another victim during the previous summer months.

The murder of Evans still puzzles me. It was not only out of sequence, it was out of Brady’s and Hindley’s previous pattern. Previous pattern: No uncalculated risks, organized, high secrecy. Evans pattern: High risks, disorganized, no secrecy. Compared with their previous murders, it almost seems like they were begging to be caught. In addition, Brady made a comment to police that it was intended to be their “last one”- a contradiction to his statement to Smith that “we were not due another one for a few more months”.

Another thing that puzzles me is Brady’s so-called autobiography. Supposedly he has written it and does not want it published until after his death, and he wants the proceeds to go to his mother. With his known desire for attention, I would think he would want to see the reaction of the public to whatever he has written while he is still alive. His mother is now in her 90’s. How much longer will she live? How will proceeds sometime off in the future help her when she most likely could use help now? What is Brady afraid of?

  52. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

You have not obviously and are not on the Moor Road then or have been this week. You are not correct as to the van that took John. It was a Ford Anglia saloon that was hired and driven over the pasture where later Pauline would be found. It was as said a murder that occurred for boredom. Myra got bored easily with the mundane.

The Ford Anglia was not a van. I am saying no more as busy doing what I have to do. Ian knows that and so do not engage me as I have not the time to go over the fine detail that is in the public domain. Read it again and if you can go to the road that is the Moors for yourself. But I think soon they will or have cordoned it off. What do you think??//

  53. Interested in Phoenix Says:

No, I am not, nor have I ever been, on the moors. I am an American, and I live in America.

Thank you for your correction on the vehicle type used to abduct little John.

I have no wish to intrude on your time. I appreciate yours, as well as anyone’s and everyone’s, thoughts and opinions. I do not expect them, nor consider them owed in any way.

Ian Brady has had a fit. Or is it a panic attack, or remorse, or a cry for help?

    Ian knows where I am.

I can even see the eagle headed rock for he NEVER will.

He has hours only to reveal that he knows or was Mr Invisible, a ghost perhaps sat on a rock in another time.

He knows I am in the right place.

That is why he had a panic attack if it was one or a severe case of loss of power.

  55. AHolmes Says:

I feel compelled to say, Pauline, that you truly are full of your own importance…and do seem to take great pleasure in spewing forth with great passion your views, which in turn cause you to sound like a right know-it-all.

The truth of it is quite simple, really. We, the public, will only ever know so much. We weren’t there, and so we did not see with our own eyes what happend.

And quite frankly, you seem to be mocking Mr Brady. Perhaps he is remorseful…perhaps he is crying out for help. He is only human after all, not a monster, as the popular press would describe him.

He was taken ill. I find it repulsive when others subtly take pleasure in the suffering of others, whoever they may be.

Ian Brady is not ill, he is clinically insane and tonight he has more than proved he is clinically insane. But I am resiliant as I am not giving in to psychophants that want praise on my coat tails.

  59. curly Says:

Mr Holmes if Ian was remorseful why hasnt he given up kieths grave, there is a saying if you cant do the punishment then you shouldnt do the crime, after all it wasnt just 1 child they murdered between them 4x 20years life sentences = 80yrs in prison. What about the families who`s children he murdered they also have a life sentence so its many lives they affected.

  60. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Sadly, I do not believe that Brady will ever be of any real help in locating the body of little Keith.

After reading Topping’s account of the hundreds of hours he spent with Brady in the late 80’s- as well as the brief account of Winnie Johnson’s attorney David Kirwan, who saw Brady twice last year at Ashworth and failed to gain any concrete information- it seems clear to me that Brady has no intention of ever giving up any truly useful information.

Brady seeks attention and feigns offers of help merely to manipulate everything and everyone to his own selfish interests. It is a game to him and a very sick one- one in which he enjoys watching the suffering of others as they dance helplessly around him.

Brady is not going to change his MO. Those who believe he will might do well to remember the old adage: “What is the definition of stupidity?” Answer: “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

  61. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

There is no modus operandi as it is a ’signature’. You would do well to read of CONFABULATION forensically where parts of one story fit another. It is my view the fiasco on Tuesday was because if I read his lawyer right Ian told with some others of a location at Wessenden Head. It then became a full alert as this is Gospel from Myra. The same Myra that is saying Ian used his bike at the time of the murder of Pauline and does not recognise images and features sent to him via his lawyer.

Painful as it was there are lessons to be learned. People lie for greed and promotion of their professions for differing reasons that are sat on the coat tails of the fable teller, the one who fears most of all his father’s image on the net and not that of his victims.

Read the newspapers. He is said to have helped persons and that is not me. He has not replied to me as to photos as he recognises none. He has led a merry dance to places that she led them to and he endorsed. Are the messages I give him via his lawyer correct. I do not think so for I lead the same dance now I know who is the enemy.

Mark one thing. We are not giving up. We will not be upset by the acts of a Primary Narcissist and those as undiagnosed with this condition who follow his every work. My word now to him is just as deceptive for we are at war Mr Brady and he knows why.

  62. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Pauline, I am having trouble understanding what you are saying.

Also, my comments were not meant in any criticism of your search efforts, but rather in my doubts as to the sincerity and motives of any of Brady’s offers of help, both past and present.

In fact, I admire your efforts and wish you good fortune in your progress. Do you play chess?

  63. Pauline Anne Badger BSc(Hons) Dip Env Dev., MSc Science Says:

Ethnography to the untrained person is in fact habit as to the same result as to programming as in table rapping and entertainment as a set mode of output.
The method of analytical induction in contrast to pathways where the objective is not a change of direction as reflexivity is outside the scope of some.So read Measor.L. (1985) ‘Interviewing: a strategy in qualitative research’ Burgess, R, ( ed) Strategies in Educational Research. London.

Brady or Stewart as his real name was not following a modus operandi as he failed to attain his goal -that of being a Kray and a Mastermind. He did in fact become an exile with no homeland and was expelled by the use of penal welfarism under the Scottish Act of clemancy for the deprived and depraved.

The English gave the failed regime of Borstal as corporal punishment that the regime enforcers enjoyed.
In contrast Myra a street fighter as was her sister performed the art of ‘fitness’ in the jungle yet they are saying in error that Ian did use his bike at 8.45 pm and Myra drove the van that belonged to Ben Boyce of Abbey Hey as a learner driver to a country location she had never been before.

Yet, Harrison places succinctley Myra, Maureen and David outsite Pauline Reade’s house at 9.05 pm. This not time for the choreography to become fact. It is fiction and part of another programmed revenge murder of Myra. Challenge what you will. Myra is outside the home of Pauline as is Maureen and David when the grocery van empirically is not on the Moor as she stated.

It simply is the tale of the ‘Emporer with no cloths’. She and Ian were not on the Moors at 9 pm and neither was Pauline. The fable continues as to what is a method of abduction, torture, murder and disposal as patterns of gender in reverse. It simply is a signature not a modus operandi to the academic mind and one that has reconstructed it and found it lacking in validity.

Of course none scientists may disagree. But they are seekers not empirical investigators to what is and cannot be so. Sheep pen tells us that as it is not a real object is it not, nor is the ‘eagle has landed’ as to reality as it was a film yet a rock is formative of this film to Ian as an ideology.

  64. AHolmes Says:

Curly-it’s Ms Holmes, to correct you.

I do not know if Mr Brady is remorseful, only he knows that, I simply said that perhaps he feels remorse. And as for why he has yet to disclose the location of Keith Bennett’s grave…it is possible that he can no longer recall-perhaps he wasn’t even present when Keith was buried…after all Myra Hindley could’ve easily buried the boy alone, and as some people have surmised, murdered him single-handedly.

Also, I do not deny that the families of those children have, themselves, been served a life sentence; they have suffered unimaginably.

  65. Steve Says:

All i can say about any of this is!

I live local to the Moors, in the 80’s my brother was working for GMP as a policeman. He said that Brady wanted to help very much in finding Keith, but Topping took him to the wrong area, he told Topping this in front of my brother, Topping would not listen and debunked him and sent him back to the prison, as Topping then relised he got it all so very very wrong.

As a local, not one of us believe Kieth is in Shiny Brook, not even the land owners.Brady has asked to go back and show where Keith is, but they will not take him due to a mass cover up over the mistakes that were make in the 60’s and 80’s, they do not want to loose face.

As for Paula she is know to the police and locals, if you speek to the police regarding her they will tell you she is as nutty as a fruitcake, and the locals call her the village idiot.

Dont take my word for any of the above,go and find out for your self, but be careful who you listen to,and dont beieve all you read.

It shows you how the police work also, 6 hours to identify sheep bones.

As for Brady, how would you feel if you told the poice you had been taken to the wrong place, and then shoved back in a van and taken back to prison and told to shut up ?

Brady has made statements saying he wants to go back to the moor, but they dont want to take him,as it would reveal the mess in the 80’s which was make.

I know if i was trying to tell someone where i had put a body and i was ignored, in the end i would say ,stuff you lot i cant be assed now to help you.Bloody hell what a frustration

Micky i can understand how you feel, there are many out there looking for Keith with there tales and claims, go with your heart and write everything down you receive.
May be one day if Keith is found you can say, hey what i got was correct, thats the real deal of it all.

As for Winnie, bless her,my family know her well, she knows Keith will never be found, and she is aware of the nutters that are out there, i must say it gives her a good laugh.None of you understand how she feels, but i will say she would rather believe a medium than a scientist

  66. Interested in Phoenix Says:

Steve, what you say about Topping’s search with Brady in the 80’s has a ring of truth with what Psychic/Medium Christine Hamlett says on her website about where she feels Keith is buried.

Here are some quoted excerpts from Psychic/Medium Christine Hamlett:

“… At once we felt this was the right place..We later found out that this second place WHERE WE FELT RIGHT. WAS HOLLIN BROW KNOLL…

Even to find hollin brown knoll was no mean feat. To find the place at all was amazing. Keith is buried on the same side of the road as John Kilbrides his body was found on ground across the road opposite Hollin Brown Knoll. Its just a bit further up and around the bend I know people are searching in this area right now. At this place there is a layby ..a stream and ruins of what could have been sheep pens…..a rock marking the place Indians head….gullies down at the bottom near Greenfield spring …..in fact everything that is on Myra’s map is also at this place…

If the police had gone onto the Moors by this route Instead of going onto the Moors by the Hoe Grain. They would of found all the things they looked for when they took Myra and Ian back on the Moors to look for Keiths body. They still would…

Ian Brady planned his murders and burials very carefully. One side of the road for girls Hollin Brown Knoll. The other side of the road for boys. Pauline and Lesley were found on the same side of the road at Hollin Brown Knoll. John’s body on the other side of the road opposite Hollin Brown Knoll. If the police had not caught the Moors Murderes and found the body of Edward Evans he to would of ended up being buried near to John Klibride. Myra and Ian have said that keith is buried in the shiny brook area near Wessenden Head area this is a couple of miles down the road from Hollin Brown Knoll. But it must be remembered that Myra had said that she and Ian did not know the names of any places on the Moors that they just knew them as the Moors..it does not make sence at all. Why when they had buried all their victims in the same area would they then decide to bury Keith in a totally different place???…

The road the police took Myra onto when she revisited the mooors in the 80s did not exist in the 60s this confused her.. Same with Ian they took him towards shiny brook on the waterboard rd that was not there in the 60s when AI an murdered Keith and took hin onto the moors…In his book Topping who was leading the hunt said he did not know which way to take them on the moors so HE CHOOSE HOE GRAIN…”

    Hmmmm…
