Property Speculation and Second Life
June 2, 2007
I was watching a programme last night on BBC television about buying property in Knighstbridge in London. But this was not the real London this was a virtual Knightsbridge in a virtual London. But the money was real. There was this woman , a professional sort of woman who makes a very good living selling apartments and the like. I’ve forgotten the price of these places but it was in the thousands. Millions of people are now choosing to live in this virtual world where you can buy and sell and where the landlord will still want his rent.
And these same properties are even being fought over in the courts. Real property speculators are buying up vast tracts of land and living off the rents they receive. And after you acquire your property you go to a furniture store and buy virtual kitchen tables and God knows what else. There are people out there who live in this world every day of the week. And it’s no longer just a game. Many professionals have given up their job in the ‘real’ world to take up the same job in this virtual world. And they are charging the same fees.
And no one is laughing for this is not a joke.
So if you didn’t make it in this life then here’s your chance to start all over again. There are those who have met and married and bought a home in this world and hope to sell that home in time and buy something with ‘a little more room’. So maybe you should take that smile off your face and think seriously about getting on the virtual property ladder before the prices go through the roof.
I have noticed since first posting this that many people who read this post don’t hit on the links provided so with that in mind let me just remind all that if you want to really get the point of this little post then why not just click on the last link provided above where it say’s ‘property ladder’.

Perhaps the powerful people have finally gone over the edge? Everyone loves a fantasy – a good book, a film, a video game, driving dodgem cars etc., but anyone who wants to enter virtual reality…I’d say they would want to get out more. Why not take up gardening, cycling or hillwalking? Much more healthy – any opinions?
